Chilean's Challenges in the current Economic and Political Environment

Luis Felipe Céspedes is a professor at the School of Business of Adolfo Ibáñez University. He has also taught macroeconomics and international economics at the University of Chile and the Catholic University of Chile. Before his current appointment, between March 2014 and August 2017, he was the minister of economy, development, and tourism of Chile under Bachelet administration. Between 2012 and February 2014, he was a member of the Consejo Técnico de Inversiones, which produces reports, proposals, and statements regarding pension funds and unemployment. In the public sector, Céspedes served as coordinator of economic policies and chief economic advisor in the Chilean Finance Ministry from 2006 to 2009. He also managed economic research at the Central Bank of Chile. A publisher of several research papers on international economics, Céspedes has been a guest researcher at the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, and at the Economics Department of Rutgers University. He earned his PhD in economics from New York University and also holds a degree in economics from the Catholic University of Chile.
