FRANCISCO SAFFIE

Francisco is a postdoctoral researcher at New York University Law School in USA and professor of the Adolfo Ibañez University Law School in Chile. His main interests are tax law, civil law and philosophy of law. Before his current appointment, he worked at the Chilean Finance Ministry under the Bachelet administration structuring the 2014 tax reform. He was also tax advisor at Ernst & Young, at Philippi Yrarrázaval Pulido & Brunner and at Barros Letelier & Cía. He is Of Counsel in tax matters at FerradaNehme Abogados. Among his publications are “El impuesto a las herencias como una institución de justicia” and “Un sistema tributario diseñado para privilegiar a unos pocos”. Francisco got the Conicyt, College of Humanities and Social Science and Overseas Research Scholarships for his graduate studies. He earned his PhD in Law from University of Edinburgh, a Master in Tax and JD, both from University of Chile.
