Webinar: The Innovative E-Mobility Transition of Chile' s Transportation System

Gabriel Guggisberg is the current Chile´s Chair at the World Energy Council, a global nomination under the “Future Energy Leader Program” and he also leads the E-Mobility Team at the Sustainable Energy Agency in Chile. At the Agency, he conducts research, implements initiatives for the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Transportation, and creates proposal for the country to foster the mobility transition. Some of the recent initiatives includes, but are not limited to, the first-of-its-kind city-wide EV public charging system deployment in Santiago, the E-Mobility National Accelerator for the Chilean industry, a multi-regional analysis for a new public—private cooperation to thrive new mobility ecosystems, and a new plan for understanding the long-term deployment of electric depots for public transit in the country. In 2019-2020, Gabriel led three research projects at the Engineering school of the University of Chile in the fields of mobility, technology, and distributed generation. Gabriel also has working experience in the U.S (NYC Mayor´s Office of Innovation and Technology and CALSTART clean transportation technologies), and Africa (Ethiopia and Reunion Island – Solar projects and government digitization).
Gabriel holds an MPA (´18) degree from Columbia University and a civil engineering degree from the University of Chile (´11). He also attended a graduate program at the school of architecture in Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich specialized in cities and health.
Milton Valdes is Senior Manager in Sustainable Development at Corporacion Nacional del Cobre de Chile, Codelco, where he develops, promotes, articulates and deploys corporate roadmaps, strategies and ecosystem interactions for the seven mine sites operations. Mr. Valdes joined Codelco in 2014 as Market Development Manager in sales Vice Presidency, where he developed and implemented projects to ensure corporate alignment with market trends and commercial access to most restrictive markets for Codelco’s products. He was part of the team who established a JV to build the first precious metal recovery plant in Chile, leveraging Korean expertise to solve a very specific problem with a unique solution. Later in 2015, he was appointed COO of CodelcoLab (Codelco´s subsidiary), an open innovation business accelerator dedicated to developing new uses for copper. A role in which he was able to help several entrepreneurs along their journey to become successful. In 2018 he moved to the Sustainability Vice Presidency, where he has led some disruptive initiatives aiming at shifting Codelco’s mine sites away from diesel, in a first stage in underground mines and looking in the mid-term to open pit mines. An ambitious goal that he plans to achieve is a secure and harmonic transition to new technologies, working in an open and collaborative manner with all actors involved.
Rodrigo Zamora has more than 25 years of experience in the transport, technology and security industries. With broad experience in Chile and Latin America, Mr. Zamora has held executive positions at the main toll road projects in Santiago, as Chief Road Safety Engineer at Autopista Central and Autopista Costanera Norte, and Chief Operating in other urban corridors, among other senior positions. Rodrigo has also extensive consulting experience, mainly focused in high-tech projects. During his career he has became in an expert mixing road infrastructure with technology and environmental solutions. Rodrigo is Civil Engineer degree and holds a Master in Transport, both from the University of Chile.
